Why we need to use water wisely

There is no doubt that we are facing a global water challenge take a look at some of these facts:

  • According to the UN, billions of people are still living without safe water. Water scarcity remains a global problem because there is a finite supply, and with less rain falling, and significant growth in the population, there is greater demand for water.
  • The World Bank predicts that by 2025 two thirds of the global population will run short of fresh drinking water.
  • In March 2019 the European Environment Agency and UN forecast severe drought across the whole of Europe by 2050.
  • Also in March 2019, the CEO of the Environment Agency, Sir James Bevan made a speech entitled, ‘Escaping the jaws of death’, he suggested that England will face severe water shortages within 25 years unless action is taken now and said: “We all need to use less water and use it more efficiently.”
